P​hyllis Thomas Gibson is a native of the Southeast and long time resident of Birmingham.  She works from her home overlooking the Cahaba river, both in clay and paint mediums.  Her view of the Cahaba is a great inspiration to her; she lives on a wildlife refuge and loves watching the different animals as she creates. 

Phyllis Gibson's early artistic training is in oils.  She began painting in acrylics around 10 years ago and has been working with clay for over 25 years. 

Her art, while inspired by nature, is contemporary in style and incorporates a good deal of texture.  She is inspired by all things happy and tries to have this come across in her art.
