DJ Boyd

My approach as a photo artist is to frame and capture moments in time and light for various subject matter that pull my attention and interest, whether it be landscapes from my travels in the US or abroad, urban scenes here locally in Birmingham, Alabama, or cornfields from the outskirts of my hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska! I enjoy event photography as well, especially weddings!

“To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as of a precise organization of forms which give that event its proper expression” –Henri Cartier Bresson

My interest in photography started around the age of 13 when I received my first camera, a Kodak instamatic! I quickly became the family photographer capturing personal and family events! Later in life I decided to pursue photography seriously, attending courses in my hometown and continuing my studies and practice once I moved to Birmingham in 2000! I received a Certificate of Photography in 2007 from Samford University, based on combined coursework from UAB Special Studies and Samford University’s Metro College! I occasionally serve as co-instructor along side my husband, Ken Boyd, www.kenboydphotography.com at Samford and I am a member and past officer of the Shades Valley Camera Club, www.shadesvalleycameraclub.com
