Hello! I'm Mary Jo and I am both an Author and Artist...and both titles came unexpectedly!

 

AUTHOR:  In 2012, I found myself suddenly in a caregiving role for my elderly dad.  In my book, When He Sends Redbirds, Walking Through Emotions as a Caregiver, I will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, both laughter and tears.  Through my journals and raw storytelling, I share the ups and downs of caregiving.  Although every caregiver's journey is different, there are strong similarity of emotions experienced when taking care of a parent or family member. 

 

 ARTIST:  Although I have always loved painting, ten years ago I began experimenting with abstract paintings to include "hidden crosses" I would hide in the art. This signified the personal trials we all go through, yet when we yield to God, He is present and will reveal His unending faithfulness. In fact, as we grown in our relationship with God, we realize the profound reality that God is always in our lives, yet during difficult times, we sometimes aren't aware of His presence. Through seeking and praying, we not only realize He was there all along...we realize He provided.  From salvation to healing, deliverance to redemption, Jesus Christ holds the answers...because there is Power in the Cross. 

 

My newest line of Hidden Crosses Paintings show the crosses more vibrant and apparent, signifying 2017 is a season of being a bold witness in living out our Christian walk.  Before I put the first drop of paint on the canvas, I pray that the Lord will help me, guide me and make it absolutely beautiful...with great texture, color, and meaning.  My desire is that Hidden Crosses Paintings will be a blessing and reminder that the Cross represents an expression of God's amazing love for us!
